general park Jae Kyong is one of the most trusted senior generals by North Korean leaders. He visited the South Korean capital Seoul (now Seoul) in 2000 to convey the message of peace between the two countries. A person familiar with the matter said that park Zaijing had actually been to Seoul as early as 1968, but he was a special forces soldier who went to assassinate then South Korean President Park Chung Hee.

in 2011, park Zaijing (China) boarded a Chinese naval vessel visiting the DPRK.

since this year, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has frequently inspected the elite troops of the people’s army, and the figure of senior general park Jae Kyong, deputy director of the General Political Bureau of the people’s army, often appears around him. After the dismissal of Li Yinghao, the former chief of general staff of the people’s army, park Jae Kyong, who is mainly responsible for publicity, has become the focus of attention of South Korean media and intelligence agencies and is regarded as one of the senior generals with the closest relationship with the supreme leader of North Korea. Recently, South Korea’s “weekly Korea” magazine published a long report, saying that park Jae Kyung was the only survivor of the North Korean special forces’ surprise attack on the South Korean presidential palace in 1968, and made progress because of this near death experience.

the secret behind the blank resume

according to the information held by the South Korean Unification Ministry, park Zaijing was born in North Hamgyong on June 10, 1933, graduated from Kim Il Sung Political University, successively served as the instructor, deputy section chief, section chief, deputy minister and Minister of the Propaganda Department of the General Political Bureau of the Korean people’s army, and was promoted to the top general in February 1997. The South Korean Unification Ministry commented on him as “a powerful figure of the people’s army, responsible for the propaganda and encouragement of the army and expressing praise for the national leaders”.

due to the strict confidentiality of the North Korean side, the South Korean official record of Park Jae Kyong’s resume was only as early as 1985, which was basically blank before. Until the end of 2003, at a gathering of the Korean Christian Church, Jin Xingjiu, a former Korean special forces soldier who became a Korean national after being captured by the South Korean side, suddenly revealed: “Park Jae Kyong was the only person who broke through the siege and returned to Seoul in 1968. He visited Seoul (today’s Seoul) in September 2000. At that time, I wondered if I could meet him…” when the words

came out, South Korean public opinion was greatly surprised – that year, Kim Hing Jeou was the only North Korean soldier captured alive. According to the results announced by the South Korean military, the South Korean military killed 27 North Korean special forces on the spot, and then found three bodies on the outskirts of Seoul. 31 North Korean soldiers who sneaked into Seoul should be “wiped out”. I have never heard of anyone who successfully broke through. After Jin Xingjiu was captured, he was pardoned for “changing his political belief” and baptized as a priest of the Christian Church of Korea.

questioned the authenticity of Jin Xingjiu’s exposure. It was pointed out that Jin Xingjiu was born in 1942, nine years younger than Park in Beijing. The Korean special forces who participated in the operation in that year were all second lieutenants except captain Jin Chunzhi and lieutenant Jin Xingjiu, the leader of the second group. How can park’s military age and military accomplishment be one level lower than that of Kim Xingjiu, who is much younger? However, Jin Xingjiu has vowed many times that he has no empty words. Recently, he has found mainstream media including Korean weekly and central daily to vividly tell the details of his joint “Seoul strategy” with Park Jae Kyong 44 years ago.

sneaked into Seoul as special forces

. In 1968, in order to support the “Southern revolutionary movement”, the reconnaissance Bureau of the Korean national defense province (now the people’s armed forces ministry) established the 124th unit with up to 1000 people to carry out reconnaissance and attack tasks behind the enemy. On January 5, a 31 member operation team of the 124th army came to the western city of shariyuan in North Korea for secret training. The leader of the reconnaissance Bureau told the captain Jin Chunzhi: “your task is to sneak into the presidential palace of qingwatai in Seoul and cut off Park Chung Hee’s head!”

on January 17, the North Korean special forces changed into the South Korean military uniform, cut the barbed wire, and sneaked into the South Korean territory from less than 30 meters away from the US South Korean joint force post. Jin Chunzhi divided his subordinates into six groups with 5 to 7 people in each group. The second group of Jin Xingjiu was responsible for attacking the heart of qingwatai, and the sixth group of Park Zaijing was responsible for clearing the periphery and withdrawing the team.

Korean special forces took two days and two nights to cross the defense line, but their tracks were still found by several loggers. Upon hearing the news, Park Chung Hee immediately issued an extraordinary situation order “a”, instructing the South Korean reverse osmosis force to carry out a dragnet campaign in the entire Seoul Gyeonggi do region. However, South Korean commanders were not clear about each other’s specific objectives and put most of their forces closer to the front of the Korean military demarcation line. As a result, the carefully disguised Korean special forces still touched Seoul at about 8 p.m. on January 21.

North Korean soldiers lined up in two rows and headed towards qingwatai, with Jin Xingjiu and park Zaijing walking in front. At this time, Seoul has received the alarm of “armed infiltration”, and there are many fewer pedestrians than usual. At about 21 o’clock, 31 special forces approached the city center and rushed to the green tile terrace along zixiamen mountain road. On the way, they needed to climb over a small hill with pavilions. Seoul Zhonglu district police department just set up a new temporary inspection station there. Park Tai’an and Zheng Zongzhu, the criminal police on duty, saw the heavily armed team coming and immediately came forward to investigate.

“who are you?” Park Tai’an asked.

“who are you?” Park defends in Beijing and attacks.

“criminal police of Zhonglu police station.”

” we are from the army anti espionage team and return to the camp after training. You are not qualified to ask about us. Ask your director! ” Jin Xingjiu motioned park to step back in Beijing and answer the questions of the Korean police himself. But he didn’t notice that several subordinates were too nervous and exposed the guns hidden in their coats. This detail was seen by park Tai’an. He realized that these people might be Korean special forces, so he exchanged eyes with Zheng Zongzhu and made way for the road.

North Korean special forces passed by. Two South Korean policemen quietly reported to the police commissioner Cui Kuizhi by radio: “suspicious militants were found.” After that, they caught up with the North Koreans who had not gone far and shouted: “brothers in the army, please show your certificates! We work very hard. It’s good for everyone to put ourselves in your shoes and show your certificates…

Jin Xingjiu didn’t stop, Instead, he pretended to ponder: “why don’t you go to Xiaozi cave with us?” It turned out that Jin Xingjiu and others were familiar with the main facilities in Seoul during their usual training. In the face of inventory, they had a complete set of response plans. On the contrary, park Zheng and others were very upset. In order to delay time, they still stubbornly agreed to go on their way among the North Korean army in disguise.

time passed minute by minute, and park Tai’an anxiously waited for the arrival of reinforcements. At about 9:10, a No. 60 bus passed in front of the North Korean special forces. The route of the bus was to go to qingwatai through the back door of Jingfu University. Park Tai’an and Zheng Zongzhu immediately mentioned their voice: if the North Koreans take this “free ride”, their actions will be greatly accelerated.

were seriously injured and still managed to break through the siege

just as the North Korean special forces were ready to get on the bus, a jeep with flashing headlights came out in front, on which was Cui Guizhi, director of Zhonglu police. He stared at the “anti espionage team members” and shouted angrily, “what’s in your clothes?” “Nothing. We’re going to the headquarters of xiaozidong anti espionage team.” Jin Xingjiu’s tone remained calm. Cui Guizhi insisted: “this is the area I am responsible for. Anyone who can’t prove his identity can’t pass!”

the two sides were in a stalemate. Another bus came across. Because the road was narrow, it was blocked by Cui Guizhi’s jeep and had to stop in place. Then, the third bus arrived. Probably mistakenly thinking that the South Korean military and police who came to encircle and suppress were sitting in the bus, the North Korean special forces finally couldn’t hold their breath, suddenly took out submachine guns and grenades, aimed at Cui Kuizhi and fired continuously. The latter who had several bullets in his body was killed on the spot. This is 9:15 p.m. on January 21.

when the gunshot rang, park Tai’an and Zheng Zongzhu, who were next to Kim Chunzhi, the captain of the Korean army, seized the weapons in the former’s hand。 In the scuffle, Zheng Zongzhu fell to the ground with bullets, while Park Tai’an pressed Jin Chunzhi to act as a “Human Shield”. Soon, the 30th battalion of the South Korean capital security command, which was responsible for the peripheral security of qingwatai, rushed to the scene. Knowing that the outnumbered Korean troops were divided into two routes, some retreated through Zixia gate and some ran to Beiyue mountain behind qingwatai, ready to continue to pursue the troops with favorable terrain. On the way, Jin Xingjiu, park Zaijing and two other comrades in arms hid in the empty Qingbei high school campus.

seeing that there are many South Korean military and police involved in the search and suppression, Jin Xingjiu said to park Zaijing: “I’ll reconnoiter outside first. You stand by in place and meet later by radio.” This became the last conversation between the two. At 0:30 a.m. on January 22, Jin Xingjiu was captured by Han Jun at the foot of RenWang mountain outside Zixia gate.

on the same day, the US South Korean coalition Army established an anti espionage operation command post and invested more than two divisions to carry out clearance and suppression operations on a larger scale. By mid February, the South Korean Joint Staff Headquarters announced that all 30 North Korean troops infiltrating Seoul, except Jin Xingjiu, had died (among them, Captain Jin Chunzhi detonated a grenade to commit suicide), while the United States and South Korea paid the price of 71 casualties.

however, as Kim Hsing Jeou broke his silence many years later, South Korea’s official war report began to be questioned. In 2007, another “defector” from the external liaison department of the Korean workers’ Party also publicly said that one of the 31 special forces did come back alive and was awarded the title of “Republic Hero”. He was Park Zaijing. In 2011, Hong Enze (a pseudonym), an officer of the 711st unit of the former Korean Army (the later designation of the 124th unit) who defected to South Korea, also revealed to South Korea’s new East Asia magazine that park Jae Kyong and two other comrades in arms who hid in Qingbei high school broke through on their own because they didn’t wait for the news of Jin Xingjiu; In the end, only park Zaijing rushed through the blockade of the US South Korean coalition forces. “At that time, he was seriously injured and even his intestines flowed out.”

somewhat unexpectedly, the failure of the raid on qingwatai did not punish Park Zaijing, who was 35 at that time; On the contrary, he won great honor and trust by virtue of his near death experience. In September 2000, as the only senior officer in the delegation of the North Korean government, he visited Seoul, which had fought for the first time in history, and presented the precious “Qibaoshan mushroom” to then South Korean President Kim Dae Jung on behalf of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. Although Park stayed in Beijing for only six hours in Seoul, the outside world still linked his appearance with the once relaxed inter Korean relations, believing that park’s visit in Beijing started the “spring of the peninsula”.

during Kim Jong Il’s reign, park Zaijing, together with Hyun Zhehai, executive deputy director of the General Political Bureau of the people’s army, and Lee Myung soo, director of operations of the general staff of the people’s army, was known as the “big three gang” by South Korean intelligence agencies. According to South Korea’s Koryo university professor Nan Chengxu, park Zaijing and Xuan Zhehai can be regarded as Kim Jong Il’s “right arms”. Zeng Zhifeng, the general secretary of the Korean people’s Association for foreign trade, and other leaders of the Korean people’s Association for foreign trade in kyeongkyo, was known as the “General Secretary of the Korean people’s Association for foreign trade” in 1996.

in September 2010, park was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Labor Party in Beijing. During Kim Jong Il’s last two years in power, park accompanied the former on inspections almost every month in Beijing. According to the Korean Central News Agency, since the beginning of this year, park Zaixin has successively accompanied the supreme commander of the people’s army Kim Jong Un to inspect key units such as the missile guidance Bureau, the 4th corps and the southwest front line Island defense team, showing that his position in North Korea’s decision-making circle has been consolidated.
